Level Up Gaming Towers gives you a space for all your gaming stuff Posted: 13 Sep 2010 06:05 PM PDT
As you can see, these gaming holders are designed for the Wii, Xbox 360, and Playstation. They also have some sort of set-up for the Nintendo DS. They also have a set-up for Rock Band, and it seems to be made to hold the drums. That is pretty good, because I can honestly say from experience that Rock Band drums really take up a whole bunch of space. As I write this, I have my drum set shoved underneath a kitchen table, still somewhat in the way. As for the other towers, they are made to hold the gaming peripherals of guitars, the games, and the console units. They also hold the controllers, but it is a real shame that they don’t charge them. These gaming towers are appropriately named Level Up and are made by Level Up Gear. They will launch in October at stores like JCPenny, Toys R Us, as well as Bed Bath and Beyond. Smart Finger measures without tape Posted: 13 Sep 2010 03:33 PM PDT This might be a sign that we’re all getting just a little spoiled when it comes to our touchscreens. All of this just moving around your fingers to enlarge an image is just too much luxury for the human race. Now people are even getting to the point where they don’t want to bother with measuring tape. Instead you just pick up a couple of finger covers and they’ll do the measuring for you. No tape necessary. The Smart Finger is made out of silicon to make it possible to wear it with any finger size. It manages to measure length, breadth and volume all through pushing a few little buttons. Once it measures the distance it’ll display it through LED. It measures by the basis of the time taken by the signal to beam from one finger to the other and back again. Right now this is obviously a concept, but it is an insteresting one to say the least. Pentax Optio lets you be creative with more than just your shots Posted: 13 Sep 2010 03:00 PM PDT Instead of putting all of your creative juices into a picture, save a little for your camera. The Pentax Optio NB1000 allows for you to build miniature sculptures right on the front of your camera. You of course do all of this with the use of a handy stash of Legos. With this you’ll never have to give up your child-like love for those plastic bricks. The 14.1 megapixel camera has a 4x zoom along with 720p video recording. These come in two different color choices, monochromatic white and safari green. Also I should mention that these technically don’t use Legos. Instead they use Nanoblocks from Japan’s DiaBlock. You can use these blocks for practical reasons like adding something you can really hold onto or just making the front look a little extra pretty. These are scheduled to release sometime later this year for about $240. SkyRider seats force you to get up close and personal during flights Posted: 13 Sep 2010 02:01 PM PDT Flights are already cramped and uncomfortable enough that I often find myself longing to just take a train ride instead. Now one company is attempting to make flights even more cramped by creating a flight class below the current economy class. Instead of sitting in seats you’ll be stuck with a slanted chair that allows for the chair in front of you to be even closer. Sure, I found myself longing for cheaper flights while booking my honeymoon recently, but I’m definitely not desperate enough to ride in a chair like this. Then again, if you’re only taking a 1 hour flight, perhaps you won’t mind that there’s only 23 inches between your seat and the one in front of you. To give you an idea on how close that is, the absolute smallest economy class flight has 31 inches. Thankfully, so far SkyRider hasn’t been picked up by any airlines, but they are presenting the idea next week at the Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas. Then again even if someone did pick up the idea, you’re not forced to ride in the seats, there will just be a cheaper cabin class below the usual economy class. Nikon Coolpix S8100 offers quality without the price Posted: 13 Sep 2010 12:00 PM PDT
You also won’t find your subject going in and out of focus thanks to Subject Tracking, where the S8100 will be able to automatically track a designated subject by activating autofocus (AF). This is made possible courtesy of Nikon’s exclusive EXPEED C2 image processing engine that has been specially customized to each Coolpix model. You will find that its 10x Optical Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens (30-300mm, 35mm equivalent) won’t be wanting under most circumstances for the entry level user, and for folks who do not own a camcorder might not even consider getting one after playing around with the S8100 for some time because it has one-touch recording, optical zoom and stereo sound recording, not to mention a new editing function to modify your recently recorded movies. Another feature worth looking into would be the advanced Night Portrait mode that reproduces night scenes and indoor portraits, where night scenes can be easily captured during handheld shooting thanks to its built-in flash. A new Mode Dial that has been conveniently located right beside the shutter-release button for quick and easy access to shooting modes adds to its versatility, especially for folks who want to toy around with more professional options instead of letting the camera decide all the shooting settings for them. The Coolpix S8100 will arrive later this month for $299.95 in black, red and gold shades. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. Pentax rolls out couple more digital cameras for the masses Posted: 13 Sep 2010 11:46 AM PDT
Among the ways to get started with the Pentax Optio RS1000 would be to immediately dress the camera in a choice of 11 standard skins which ship with the product. Apart from that, you can also rely on the SKINIT gift card in order to design and order a free, high-quality, pre-cut, 3M vinyl skin from www.skinit.com. Alternatively, the more artsy among you can use an included stencil to trace cutout lines onto printed photos, wrapping papers, drawings, and more to use as a skin. Last but not least would be to download the PENTAX PERSONAL SKIN DESIGNER Adobe Air-based software which lets you save a skin as a PDF for printing on a color printer. Hardware specifications of the Optio RS1000 include a 14-megapixel sensor, a large three-inch LCD monitor, a high-performance 4X optical zoom lens that covers 27.5mm wide angle, as well as a dummy-proof user-friendly operation. Its body is really lightweight and comes in roughly the same size as a credit card, making it compact enough to tote around anywhere. Expect the Pentax Optio to ship this October for $149.95. As for the Pentax Optio RZ10 digital compact camera, it will feature a 10X optical zoom lens, powerful macro focus settings, dual Shake Reduction (mechanical sensor-shift and digital) for effective blur reduction, all crammed into a simple and modern exterior design. You will also be able to bring home this puppy from next month onwards for $219.95 in classic black, pure white, lime and violet colors.
