Bringrr helps you not forget your cell phone Posted: 25 Jun 2010 04:59 PM PDT This next device is quite similar to the ZOMM in the sense that it can help you not forget your keys. Like the ZOMM, the Bringrr is able to sync wirelessly to your cellular phone via Bluetooth. Unlike the ZOMM, it appears to be designed to say in the car, and use on of the cigarette lighter outlets as a power source. So, if you get in the car, and you forget your cellular phone, the Bringrr will sound an alarm. Then you can stop your car, get out and get your phone and be on your way before you miss some important phone call. You will notice how I keep comparing the Bringrr to the ZOMM. I guess that until now, I thought the ZOMM was really the only product of its type. Something tells me that this product will not be the last of its type. As long as people keep forgetting their cellular phones, there will always be a product designed to prevent it. And the company that makes these products will make a profit, hopefully. So how much would you pay not to lose your cellular phone? How about $35, because that is about the cost. I don’t think I’ve lost my cell before, but it did get busted up, and it cost $50.00 to replace. I suppose $35 is a small price to pay to avoid a similar bad experience. Posted: 25 Jun 2010 04:38 PM PDT I believe that the AlcoHawk is named because it will “watch you like a hawk” to see if it is safe to get behind the wheel. This personal breathalyzer is a battery operated product that can show the alcohol in the user’s bloodstream. The user simply presses a button and blow into a mouthpiece. After a few seconds, the LCD screen will show the user’s Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) from a scale of 0 percent to 0.40 percent in about 20 seconds. Is it possible to even have a 0.40 percent without being dead? I’m not certain how you’ll get breath out of him then. The AlcoHawk Slim Ultra is made from Q3 Innovations, and it claims to have an accuracy margin of .01 to .02 percent. You can say that this could save a life, and I suppose it could. However, I believe that most drunk drivers get behind the wheel because they probably don’t think that they are too drunk to drive. I don’t know if the AlcoHawk will convince them not to get behind the wheel. You should be able to get the AlcoHawk Slim Ultra for about $50, and it costs $20 per recalibration. You can also can get a disposable one known as the AlcoHawk One Test that costs about $10. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. Infinity Pool in Singapore is Huge Posted: 25 Jun 2010 04:08 PM PDT What you are seeing here is one of those infinity pools. What is an infinity pool? An infinity pool has an effect that the water of the pool can extend to the horizon. In reality, this water spills over the edge into a catchment, and then is pumped back to the pool again. This particular one is located on the top of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. I don’t know if you can tell, but it is huge. There is a video after the jump so you can get an idea of how big. My Source has said that this pool is bigger in length than the Eiffel Tower laid down. I don’t know about you, but I would be a little scared to swim in this pool. I mean, it looks like the water just ends at the roof! I mean, you would be swimming, and then “Ahhhh”! There has got to be some sort of transparent screen or shield to protect the swimmers from that, right? Now I know how it felt back in the days of Columbus when they thought you could literally sail off the end of the earth. I don’t think I’ll be swimming in this pool (or something like it) anytime soon, but I would sure like to. Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. T-Mobile teasing us with launch of new mobile phone, rumored to be “The Vibrant” Posted: 25 Jun 2010 03:39 PM PDT T-Mobile is teasing users with a new phone. The image that you see here come from their site, and these pink blocks are slowly disappearing to reveal a rebus that is probably the name of the new phone. You know what a rebus is, right? I think the last time I saw them was in elementary school, where you add and subtract words, letters, and pictures to solve a puzzle. I think that you can see that the first few clues are obviously “Samsung”. If that is spoiler to some, then all I’ve got to say is: “you would have figured it out eventually”. I’ve got a major spoiler after the jump. It would appear that the name of it is the Vibrant, which was leaked on T-Mobile’s Twitter account. It looks like the Vibrant is the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy S series. I included a video of the Galaxy that I filmed at CTIA last March. I believe that the AT&T version is the Captivate. It will have a 4-inch touch screen, 5 megapixel camera, and Samsung 1GHz Hummingbird processor. I suppose we will find out more in the next few days, when the time runs out on this puzzle. We don’t have the formal release date and pricing of the Vibrant, but there is some sort of launch event planned for June 29. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. Posted: 25 Jun 2010 02:24 PM PDT The tragic thing about computers is that they always so silently broadcast the time. It used to be that clocks were works of art in both sound and looks. Now there is just a small digital clock on the very bottom corner of your screen. It’s not exactly awe inspiring. Instead of settling for that, now you can turn your computer clock into something much more grand. Just make one of these USB bronze bell striking clocks and you’ll always be able to hear the time. Every hour the bronze bell rings out and even once at the half hour mark, just like the big cuckoo clocks. Thankfully the person that created this was kind enough to post a guide on how to make your very own. That way everyone in your office can enjoy all of those classic sounds that clocks used to come with. I’m sure your co-workers will just love you. Posted: 25 Jun 2010 01:30 PM PDT This is one of those camping gadgets that is interesting and if you could get used to the change, could be very handy. It’s not something that’s really an option in an area lacking light, but if you have a whole lot of sunlight it’ll save you from having to carry around a constant supply of matches. Plus, unlike matches if something liquid spills in with your camping gear, it can still be used. It’s made of stainless steel and is therefore very durable, so it can handle those harsh conditions. Plus it can be used time and time again unlike other fire starters like lighter fluid. The disk itself uses a parabolic mirror and the shape makes it so the light is focused in a small area. That makes it so that it will catch anything on fire that is between the two prongs. It can even be used for frivolous things like incense. It’s pocket size and can be purchased for $19.95 from Solar Sphere. Source: Envirogadget Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. Hi-Sun Beach Towel with built-in speakers Posted: 25 Jun 2010 12:32 PM PDT When you go to the beach there are just certain essentials that tend to go with you. The beach towel is an absolute must, plus it’s kind of nice to have a little music to go with you as well. Which is where this Hi-Sun towel could come in very handy and keep the items you have to pack pretty minimal. Plus this thankfully comes in some gender neutral colors, so guys can pick one up too if they like the towel. As you might have guessed, the towel has a 3.5mm universal jack for your iPhone, iPod or any other type of MP3 player out there. The very strange thing about these speakers is that they don’t really mention if these are at all waterproof or even water-resistant. However, they are removable, so if you need to move them out of the way until you’re damp instead of dripping wet, you do have that option. This comes in pink, blue, black and red. You can pick up the 100% cotton towel for 59,00EUR or about $72. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. Giant solar plant planned for the Sahara, to power Europe Posted: 24 Jun 2010 08:08 PM PDT I just heard this quote from my Source, and I really hope that it is true.
Man, I wish that I could prove that! I mean, I probably could with a little study, then a little math, but if it is true, then all that desert out there in the Sahara that does nothing but fill with hot sun could be used for some eco-friendly power! In fact, a massive solar farm is planned to be constructed in the Sahara, and should be finished sometime in the next five years. It is slated to go until 2050, with a small portion of energy going to European nations, and then increase as the technology for transmitting energy is improved. Yeah, there is sort of a big “if” in that last sentence. I realize that sometimes I write articles about fake tech that somehow leaks to legitimate sources, and I hope that this is one of those times. As it is, this illustration looks like a still shot from a little-seen Matthew McConaughey film Sahara. If you can really fill one percent of Africa’s biggest desert and gain enough power the world, than let’s fill ten percent. Heck, fill it all up man! I’m sure that the situation is more complicated than that, though.
