SOUL Electronics offers Party in a Box

I am quite sure that all of you readers who grew up in the late 1970s and early 1980s would have had fond memories of boomboxes as you hung out with the rest of your mates, generally subjecting yourself to corny music (in retrospect, as always) and even more outrageous fashion. That happens all the time to me, no worries, but in this day and age, if you were to dust off the best boombox of yesteryear and have an ample supply of D batteries, it will still not be able to get the party started with this iPod and MP3 generation. Taking more than a year of research and development, SOUL Electronics is pleased to announce the portable, wireless entertainment system known as "Party in a Box P910".

Touted to offer superior performance that is second to none, the $999.99 Party in a Box P910 is said to be the first of its kind that boasts of a variety of functions that have been rolled into one sleek package, and will comprise of an all-inclusive indoor/outdoor portable sound system with Bluetooth, Aux input, Apple dock and HDMI connectivity, now how about that to keep up with the times?

Lan Kennedy-Davis, CEO of SOUL Electronics, USA, said, "We [SOUL] want to take partying to another level so we invented a sophisticated system jam-packed with features that you cannot find in one single audio system anywhere, and you can take it with you in your car, to the beach, poolside, basketball court, fraternity house or the next party. The Party in a Box P910 is the first of its kind, and we are confident it will blow away all your party guests. It is also a surround sound home theatre audio system. The sound is so crisp that you will likely hear words in a movie that you have never heard before if the movie is played through the Party in a Box."

You know what? It sounds too much like a dream, and the only real way of finding out whether it works as depicted would be to purchase one and give it a go.

Organize Your Desk Your Way

Stop! Look at or think about what is on your desk. No two desks are the same. Face it, if we all organized our desks in the same manner we would begin to represent some sort of lemming society. Desks – and their contents – help express our personalities, organization skills, and basically how our brains operate. There are tons of types including the "cluttered but fun" look/mind, the minimalist, the "waaaaay to organized" type and of course the desk that elicits thoughts of Pig Pen from the Peanuts.

A smart design house, B.A. Studio, decided that we should all have our desks organized as we choose. Whether paperclips, business cards, folders or electronic devices their MODO (MOdular Desktop Organizer) can help get you organized.  MODO consists of a bamboo base. Carved into it are a storage cutout, cable management grooves, USB slots for flash drives and peg holes. Twenty aluminum pegs are included complete with protective rubber caps. Somewhat like a puzzle – arrange MODO to fit your needs. Maybe you want a home for your tablet complete with cable space. Or maybe you need your phone displayed toward you. Then again you probably need space for pens and stuff. You pick and choose. Adaptability is MODO's best feature so as your needs change it does too. Oh, if you need a stylus for your tablet/phone just borrow one of the pegs with a rubber cap and voila. For a $26 pledge on Kickstarter you can get MODO going and save on the eventual $34.99 retail price. Shipping is anticipated in May, and with their goal already reached it seems totally viable. Beyond that, stay tuned for where you may see MODO.

A Jetsons-like Table

Very quietly the Jetsons turned 50 years old at the end of the year. What is your favorite technology in the Jetsons? Some of it has actually come to life! Flat screens, portable tv sort of things and the like obviously came to fruition, but plenty has not. I kind of like the pills that they eat for food. Or maybe getting on the conveyor belt to get clothed and prepped in the morning. That would be nice on some days.

One concept that looks like it came straight from the Jetsons is featured on Yanko Design. Yana Christiaens concepted a levitating table, yep levitating. The design of the table immediately says 'future.' Using the inspiration and principles that power the Maglev Train, magnetic levitation, the table would hover above a steel plate. The electromagnets on the table are pointed towards the plate to maintain the force. This of course means you could change the height of the table by adjusting the magnetic field. Can you imagine taking your table down to kid size when they want to play and then raising it up to belly bar size when you have a party? How cool! Well, at least until the power goes off. And who knows what electromagnetic forces may do to our health. Don't get your hopes up too high. The piece is still just a concept.  But perhaps when some of the other Jetsons-like technology arrives this table will too

Kyoso Remote Controlled Mop and Trash Can

Have you ever seen the robotic vacuum cleaner from iRobot, known as the Roomba, in action before? It sure as heck works great, and there is that novelty factor attached to it, but unfortunately, not everyone has the kind of disposable income to purchase one of these to help them out in their daily house chores. Well, we know how every man has a little boy still inside of him, and more often than not, gadgets and gizmos, especially of the remote controlled kind still fascinate him. I know I am taken in by what Kyoso has to offer with the remote controlled mop and trash can.

Say what? A remote controlled mop and trash can? After all, Kyoso has come up with remote controlled car replicas and mini drones in the past, and have decided to transfer this kind of expertise over to the more practical matters. No longer do you need to walk up to the trash can and dispose of your rubbish, you can let the trash can come to you! Ditto for the mop to help clean up the floor without you having to get off your couch. The thing is, you will still need to exert some physical movement when the quartet of AA batteries have been exhausted. Kyoso has slapped a $21 (after conversion) sticker price tag on either gadget.

NEC Medias W N-05E offers dual displays

So you think that you have got a pretty swanky set up at work with a couple of monitors (not because you are a showoff, but simply because you need it as your eyes have to go through a whole lot of data each day)? Well, here is something that would definitely be worth boasting about – the NEC Medias W N-05E that will be hitting NTT DoCoMo of Japan this coming spring. It is a smartphone with a difference – yes, it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, carries a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot and an 8-megapixel camera, but boasting a pair of 4.3-inch screens would definitely help set it apart from the rest of the smartphones out there.

You will be able to use both displays simultaneously in the extended screen format, which comes in handy when you are watching a video clip, or alternatively, you can opt to run a couple of separate applications for folks who love to multi-task, now how about that? The 4.3-inch LCD displays share the same resolution count at 540 × 960 pixels, and the NEC Medias W N-05E will fold up to show just one screen as standard, and you can open it up to increase the display's size.

Archos Design Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad announced

Just what is your primary computing device of choice? Is it an Ultrabook, a regular sized notebook, or a tablet? I suppose that Apple really made the most out of the tablet revolution, ushering it even, and setting standards for the rest of the industry to follow at the beginning on how a tablet is done right. Well, if the iPad has ended up as your primary means of working whenever you are away from your desk at home or at the office, I am quite sure that you are a deft touch typist on the virtual keyboard by now. However, just in case you have yet to get the hang of a virtual keyboard and type far slower on it compared to a regular keyboard, it is high time you considered a physical keyboard peripheral to go along with your iPad, and this is where the Archos Design Bluetooth Keyboard comes in handy.

The Archos Design Bluetooth Keyboard has been described to be a magnetic Bluetooth full QWERTY keyboard that is compatible with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations of the iPad. Created by a newly minted division in Archos, it is said to boast a similar look and feel to the Archos Gen10 XS coverboard, where the Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad remains extremely thin at a mere 5 mm (0.2''), where it will also boast of an adjustable kickstand alongside an aluminum back casing.

The Archos Design Bluetooth Keyboard will feature an adjustable kickstand, offers magnetic bonding to the iPad, an automatic screen switch on/off function, and a battery life that is said to last for months on end even with regular use. The Archos Design Bluetooth Keyboard cannot be purchased now however if you are hoping to surprise your beau with it this coming Valentine's Day, as iPad owners can only pick it up from March onwards at $79 a pop.
