Tattoo’s that can Monitor your Blood Sugar? Posted: 08 May 2012 01:21 PM PDT There is diabetes in my family, although I don’t have it, I am all too familiar with the routine. I guess like almost everything in life you get used to doing whatever it is you have to do. Some folks seem to adapt so much better than others. I think I would be a poor adapter, the simplest things make me crazy, so having to poke myself with a needle several times a day would make me nuts. Luckily for people like me, things are starting to change. We recently reported on a glucose monitoring iPhone app and other interesting ways to keep track of your blood sugar levels, but heres one you may not have heard about – a nanoparticle ink tattoo that can keep track of your levels without the need for the constant finger pokes and annoying blood squeezing onto those little paper strips. Once these nanoparticles are injected into the skin, glucose levels can be detected, and the diabetic tattoo will turn yellow or orange. The darker the color, the lower the sugar. The tattoo’s "ink" is sensitive to any changes in glucose levels and will fluoresce, but only when viewed in near infrared light. It is likely that one would pass a small monicle type device over the tattoo that would reveal the colors, and the ability to read blood sugar levels. Funny how things work out, the technology was originally developed to be sodium sensitive and monitor heart health, and to learn more about electrolytes in the body, and the trials in mice showed spectacular results, testing the tech for glucose readings is in process right now, no word yet on when when you’ll be able to get your “tag” and by the way, you’re not going to need that full shoulder fire breathing dragon you wanted all your life, it seems like these medical tattoo’s are very small and only last 6 months or so before they need to be re-inked. Would you be willing to try it? [ Tattoo’s that can Monitor your Blood Sugar? copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] |
The GP Toilet – You Want at Home Medical Testing? Urine Luck! Posted: 08 May 2012 07:26 AM PDT We are all too familiar with the urine test. Everyone seems to want to run a little analysis on our tinkle. The doctor, your employer, even the latest weight loss fad all need us to pee on, or in something. How humiliating, walking down the cold hallway with your tiny little cup, the insecurity about the protocol of how to hand it back, do you wrap it in a paper towel or just drop it at the front desk? I hate it! Well, welcome to the 21st century. Check out the GP Toilet, you simply select the testing you require from the integrated screen and a test nozzle appears in the bowl and awaits your “sample”. Quick and easy, you’ll be a whiz in no time. (sorry) The nozzle will then retract and analysis begins, thus “eliminating” your need to visit the doctor. This process can be very helpful in monitoring, diagnosing or even simply providing information, like when a woman might be ovulating. The urine sensor even checks your urine flow and urine levels and then runs preselected testing, displaying the results (within minutes) on the screen. The “number 1″ reason the GP Toilet was designed is to partially eliminate the hassle and cost of a doctor's office visit or laboratory testing, and it is especially convenient for those who must have such tests and work-ups done frequently. The General Practitioner Toilet is the brainchild of Lucy Jung and Do Hyung Kim and it isnt available just yet, but I can only imagine that the GP Toilet, or something very similar will be in everyone’s bathroom someday. Is that a good thing? or is medical testing in the hands of non-doctors a scary proposition? Let us know, I really gotta go! source: Yankodesign.com

The In Pool Exercise Glider is recommended to rest in water that measures at least 3′ deep, where you will stand on its foot pads, gliding back and forth in a motion that is similar to an elliptical machine. You can also opt to increase the range of motion in order to build more muscle strength, while improving cardiovascular conditioning. Since the exercise is performed in water, you are able to maintain your balance far easier than when you are on land. As long as you are no heavier than 260 lbs., the In Pool Exercise Glider ought to hold. [ In Pool Exercise Glider copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] |
HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE from Verizon Wireless Posted: 08 May 2012 05:30 AM PDT
Another aspect of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE that you might want to look into would be the inclusion of Beats Audio technology that has paved the way for this device to deliver a rich and authentic sound, never mind whether you are watching a YouTube video, playing a game, or streaming music over 4G LTE. Obviously, the original quality of the YouTube file as well as audio tracks do matter, but with Beats Audio, it makes things sound better than it originally was. The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE will also boast of an advanced 8-megapixel camera with quick activation from the home screen, letting you capture that picture perfect moment right from the get go. Not only that, you no longer need to select from shooting a video or taking photos, as HTC Video Pic enables you to record HD video there and then, and if there is a photo op – just do so without interrupting the video recording function. Other hardware specifications for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE include a 4″ Super LCD qHD display, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash, BSI, f/2.2 and 28mm lens, a front-facing camera for video chatting with friends and family, a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, Mobile Hotspot capability, a microSD memory card slot, and a 1,700 mAh lithium ion removable battery. It is said that the Samsung Focus 2 will hit the markets later this month on May 20th, where it will be accompanied by a $49.99 price tag, although this would mean you will have to stick to a two-year service agreement with AT&T. No matter though, there is always the option to “fly” along online on AT&T’s speedy 4G LTE network if the place you happen to work and live at is covered. Initial impressions of the Samsung Focus 2 have been nothing short of positive, where it might feel a wee bit shorter as well as squatter compared to its predecessor, but the handset is now far more ergonomic than usual, and is a comfort to reside in your hand, not to mention not taking up too much space in your pockets as well. As for the hardware aspect, there is not much that has changed from its predecessor, although the upgrades introduced into the Focus 2 is more than notable. We are talking about a 5-megapixel camera that is said to perform admirably well – far better than the original, while other specifications include retaining the 4" Super AMOLED display while sporting 8GB of onboard storage that cannot be expanded further. A front-facing VGA camera will complete the handset, and it comes in a beautiful pearl white shade. Will this eat into Nokia’s attempt at making sure they control the entry level Windows Phone market? Only time will tell. [ Samsung Focus 2 announced copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] |
