LG introduces new Prada phone

Posted: 28 Dec 2011 07:30 AM PST

Luxury phones like Vertu are an acquired taste – personally, I do not see much sense in forking out insane amounts of money on a handset considering how technology ends up obsolete after a while, so what are you going to do with the phone when you want to make an upgrade? Melt all the gold and make an earring, while making sure those diamonds are removed beforehand? Well, thankfully those who want more elegance and class for their handsets can always settle for something cheaper than a Vertu, without sacrificing too much in terms of quality. LG and their Prada phone by LG 3.0 is now public in South Korea, while those living in Europe as well as other parts of Asia will have to wait until January next year to get their mittens on it.

Originally announced last month, the Prada phone by LG 3.0 was unveiled in London a fortnight ago, attracting a fair amount of attention in the process considering how it is the only smartphone on the market right now with premium branding. This is the third Prada phone, hence its name. Just what kind of high end physical features can you expect to see with this? We are talking about a full glossy touchscreen on the front, in addition to Prada's signature Saffiano pattern on the back. The entire phone is also an engineering marvel, measuring a mere 8.5mm thin, sporting minimal hardkeys and a classic black finish.

There is also a 1.0GHz dual-core /dual channel architecture to keep things running, where the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is coming your way sometime in Q2 2012, so you will just have to make do with Android 2.3 Gingerbread until then. Sporting up to 8GB of internal memory, the 4.3″ touchscreen display sports a WVGA (800 x 480) resolution at 800 nits of brightness. As for its digital camera, it keeps up with the times as well thanks to an 8-megapixel camera. Any idea how much it would cost when it arrives at your country?

Kube 2 Player is good for 32GB of music

Posted: 28 Dec 2011 06:30 AM PST

I think we are now living in an age where buying an MP3 player like the iPod Classic is rather passe. After all, most of us have some sort of music player on our cell phone or other mobile devices.

Still the iPod nano still sells, and it just plays music. If you are in the market for buying something that just plays music, may I suggest the Kube 2?

As you can see, the Kube 2 is a tiny cube (one inch on all sides) with a headphone jack so you can hear your tunes. All music is stored on a microSD card, and they can store up to 32GB of audio.

As for the controls, a finger swipe allows the user to switch to the next or previous track. The volume can be controlled by placing a finger on top to raise it, and a finger on the bottom to lower it. As for the battery life, it is good for about 6 hours, I am going to assume that it charges via USB.

You should be about to get the Kube 2 for about $35.00. If you are looking for a way to customize it, then you can buy some stick-on skins for an additional $4.

txtRing, the stylus with style, is made for the finger

Posted: 28 Dec 2011 06:15 AM PST

I think we all know that the enemy of the touchscreen is the naked finger. I have found that my Kindle Fire is constantly plagued by smudges, and I have to wipe it off constantly.

For this reason, I carry around a stylus, but Kindle Fire cover doesn’t have a convenient pocket for it. I also have to constantly keep track of the stylus along with my mobile device.

The txtRng is designed to alleviate these problems. Not only will the txtRng fit on your thumb or index finger so you can keep your touchscreen free from smudging, it is a lot harder to lose a ring.

In other words, the txtRng is “one ring to rule them all”. Yes, all Lord of the Rings references aside, the txtRng truly shows a near-marital commitment to a touchscreen mobile device. However, it is a commitment that I think we already have, honestly.

So will the txtRng be the wave of the future? Who knows. You never know when something like this will really take off, but considering that everything is going touchscreen these days, there is certainly room for the txtRng to make it big. If you want to get in on this, it costs about $29.99 for preorder here.
