Jawbone UP targets a healthier you

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 08:30 AM PDT

I know that most of us do have a fitness regime of sorts, even if it involves lifting up the remote control, but the undeniable fact is this – if you want to keep fit and stay trim, don’t you think that it is about time you got off the sofa, stopped snacking on chips and fizzy drinks and start sweating it out at the gym? Yes sir, that is what I’m talking about, and Jawbone wants to help you out with the Jawbone UP – where it has been described as a “revolutionary system” which comprises of a small wristband and an app on your iPhone and iPod touch.

Both the software and the hardware will work in tandem in order to track your daily activity, sleep patterns, as well as eating habits so that you are better able to live a healthier life. Since we all know that most people last longer when they exercise in groups due to motivational factors as well as having peers to cheer you onwards, the Jawbone UP will also integrate a social experience as you can subscribe to personal and team challenges which are specifically tailored to help you achieve your goals.

The Jawbone UP addresses one of the more basic problems associated with the accurate tracking of your activity, as most of the time it would involve wearing a sensing device on you around the clock. The Jawbone UP should make that far less painful – attractive even, thanks to a sophisticated motion-tracking engine that is housed within an attractive, durable, and water-resistant design. This particular design will seamlessly and unobtrusively integrate itself into all your daily activities and errands.

In a nutshell, the Jawbone UP is smart enough to automatically measure and store all aspects of your activity such as the number of steps taken, calories burned, distance, pace, and active versus inactive time throughout the day. You will be able to pick up the Jawbone UP in a couple of days time, where you can choose from three sizes (small, medium, large) – and hopefully if you started off with large, you will end up with medium to depict your weight loss. Available in Dark Black, Dark Brown, Dark Red, Bright White, Bright Silver, Bright Red, and Bright Blue colors, the Jawbone UP will retail for $99.99 a pop.

V-MODA Remix Remote headphones

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 08:10 AM PDT

Yes, we have reported on the V-MODA Remix Remote headphones before, and I am only reporting for them because I got a chance to try them out recently.

These headphones are light and durable, and they are called the Remix Remote because they have an integrated three-button remote built right into the wire. The three buttons are volume up, volume down, and play/pause.

Also on these headphones is a high fidelity, omni-directional microphone. This mic is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod shuffle, iPod Touch, iPod nano, 120GB iPod classic, as well as all kinds of MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Pro models.

The speaker driver is 9mm V-MASQUE dynamic technology plus a neodymium rare earth magnet. The cables are Kevlar reinforced, with a 45 degree 24 K gold-plated 3.5 mm stereo plug. Also featured on the Remix Remote is the noise-isolating technology that reduces outside noise and enables deep punchy bass called BLISS (Bass Level Isolating Soft Silicone).

The Remix Remote headphones come with detachable sport earhooks with Active Flex technology and four pairs of silicone ear fittings of ear fittings in clear and black in four sizes (Extra Small, Small, Medium, and Large).

You should be able to get the V-MODA Remix Remote headphones on the V-MODA site for about $79.99 in colors of Nero, Chrome, Rouge, and Blush.

Superbeam Headset SB-405W from Andrea Electronics

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 08:05 AM PDT

The SuperBeam SB-405W headset is a very good set of headphones that deliver Hi-Definition sound. They have that old-school cushioned headphones look, but the size is smaller, so they feel less weight on the head.

Yes, the sweet sound that they make would be enough to sell them, but what really sells this headset is that it can record. It uses its “boom free” technology, which means that there are no long-necked microphones attached to the headphones.

Instead, there are small microphones attached to the left and right earpieces, and they have binaual microphone placement for 3D surround sound recording.

I got a chance to see (and hear) them work, and I was able to make a very clear recording of my voice with just these headphones. This surprised me, and these SuperBeam phones are good for VOIP, Video Conferencing, and works on so many great devices. For example, the SuperBeam comes with a USB adapter for a laptop, but the user has to purchase a Y-shaped wire for a smartphone.

The SuperBeam SB-405W Headset is available on the Andrea Electronics shop site for a price of $149.95. The headset comes with a protective case, but the Y-shaped cable smartphone adapter costs about $9.95.

Energizer’s New 10W USB Chargers and Cables for iDevices

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 08:00 AM PDT

I always like to see what Energizer is up to, like with the Inductive Charger. The little pink bunny rabbit has put out some new solutions for charging Apple products, and they have four new products that you can see here.

After the jump, you will see more details, starting with the top left product in the image and going counter-clockwise to the left.

The 10W USB Wall Charger and Cable ($24.99) has a compact design with fold-down blades, which makes it easy to travel around. It comes with an Apple certified dock connector USB cable, but it works with any USB charging cord.

The 10W USB Car Charger and Cable ($24.99) is made for turning any auto DC outlet into a charging station, and also comes with a dock connector USB cable. It has a slim design that can sit flush with an auto dashboard, and can charge other USB devices as well.

The Micro and Mini USB Charging Cables ($9.99) are compatible for charging multiple devices. One is a Mini USB to USB cable, and the other one is a Micro USB to USB cable. They are both compatible with the Wall Charger and the Car Charger.

The Dock Connector USB Cable ($14.99) is made for the iPad, iPod, and iPhone. It can sync and charge devices, and it is always good to have an extra charging cord for an iDevice around.

Tick Tock iPhone Alarm Clock

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 08:00 AM PDT

I must take my hats off to the traditional alarm clocks that tend to create quite a din in an effort to get you up and running to face a brand new day, but after a while, their incessant ringing might actually help you get out of bed – on the wrong side, unfortunately. Don’t you think it would be better if you could wake up to a tune of your choice, or perhaps even to your favorite DJ on a radio station? Why, with the advent of iPhone accessories, you are now able to do so – and what better way than to merge the old and the new in the form of the £59.99 Tick Tock iPhone Alarm Clock?

Sure, the Tick Tock iPhone Alarm Clock might come in its classic round face and twin bell design, but that doesn’t mean it will ring its way through the morning and make a pest of itself. No sir, it is a modern docking station that will hold your precious iPhone inside when you go to bed at night (while juicing it up at the same time, of course), sporting a couple of 360° omni-directional full-range speakers so that your ears (and perhaps your partner in bed) will wake up to rich, multi-directional sound.

Other features include a built-in FM radio, an LCD display for FM/aux/alarm/time/date functions, five preset alarms and time synchronization with your iDevice. Want a more conventional alarm clock setup? That can be accomplished by pivoting the dock out of the way.

Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews.
