Posted: 16 Mar 2011 05:36 PM PDT Every now and then you come across something, something that begs to be shared, if only for the sheer novelty of it or, sometimes for what I like to call the "you gotta be kidding" factor, sometimes you want to share it because you can't believe anything like it was actually made, marketed and is wildly successful, but rarely you come across something that is all those things, and I'm going to tell you about it, when I stop crying and scratching my head. Let me now introduce you now to Pee & Poo, not that you haven't met before, but probably not in this way. Created by Swedish designer Emma Megitt as a college project, Pee & Poo became so amazingly popular that they have t-shirts and stuffed, um, no, not animals, (let's just call them number one and number two, shall we?) better yet, t-shirts and plush pals were created to… um, cuddle with? They are meant to address body functions in an open and playful manner and have been an instant hit with kids and adults alike. Seriously? Okay, I suppose they can be used for toilet training, or for adults who enjoy a little "potty" humor. It makes for a never before seen gag gift or maybe even a good new parents present (hey I'm reaching here) but when you’re making out your Pee & Poo gift list, don't feel limited to t-shirts and plushes, they also have notepaper, socks, tattoos and keychains. All this can be yours for only around $32.00 bucks from www.shop.kissochbajs.com I will leave you with a tip, never ask for a "Kiss" in Sweden, Pee & Poo are Kiss & Bajs over there. Nuff said? Yes, I think it is.

Despite Guitar Hero’s demise, Ubisoft to release Rocksmith guitar video game Posted: 16 Mar 2011 03:57 PM PDT In case you haven’t heard, Activision has pulled the plug on Guitar Hero, which is a sign that the music video game genre is in decline. Well, the numbers don’t lie. Sales in the music category of video games were at 1.7 billion in 2008, and then halved in sales to $900 million in 2009. It then went to a third at $300 million in 2010. When a video game genre is in such decline, you can do an Activision move and just “forget about it” or you can improve on it by reinvention. Ubisoft has decided to reinvent it as they are planning to create Rocksmith, a guitar game that uses an actual guitar. Not that this hasn’t been done before. There is already Power Gig: Rise of the Six String which is essentially the same model. I believe that the last version of Rock Band, which is not giving up its hold on the music genre game, also has this feature. I’m not certain what is going to make RockSmith different from these real guitar games, but I am told the title will launch with a “sizable library of music” which include the Rolling Stones and Nirvanna. Again, I’m pretty sure these music games have tunes by those artists. I guess we will see how this plays out. Rocksmith will be coming out sometime for the Xbox 360, the Playstation 3, and the PC sometime after July. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. The Lumen Lamp – Stands Out in the Shadows Posted: 15 Mar 2011 06:45 PM PDT
We are constantly invited to parties, no, I'm not singing the praises of my sparkling personality, in fact, I'm quite sure the only reason we get invited anywhere, is because of my husband. He's a people person, the one everyone remembers long after they meet. Me, not so much, but behind the scenes, I'm actually the one who is the most thoughtful, trying to find the perfect gift, the nicest bottle of wine, the "wow, where did you find that gift" and everyone thinks he's so great. Anyway, I thought I'd share with you one of those gifts, as I'm pretty certain it qualifies as cool… Check out the Lumen Lamp, an innovative oil lamp designed by Adam Frank for Adam Frank incorporated, that is not only a beautifully sculptured lamp, but it also functions as a shadow projector. When lit, The Lumen throws a gorgeous soft shadow on the wall. The further away the Lumen is from the wall, the larger the shadow will be. The shadow moves and dances as the flame flickers. The Lumen Lamp is American made, with a stainless steel body and a polyethylene base to prevent scratching sensitive surfaces. Each piece comes with two 17-hour liquid wax fuel cells, which are made by Hollowick, the leader in industry safety, and meet or exceed all relevant safety standards. They are odorless and clean burning. The Lumen Lamp is available the next time YOU need a present that someone else can take credit for at www.uncommongoods.com for only $48.00 bucks.
