FroliCat DART helps keep your feline friend occupied Posted: 19 Nov 2010 12:20 PM PST While cats require a whole lot less attention compared to dogs, that doesn’t mean you can just leave them at home all day long, coming back from the office without even so much as give them a pat on the head. No sir, they too, need some level of attention and will have to keep themselves occupied mentally and physically too. Well, good thing there is this thing called technology which makes it possible to come up with the £29.99 FroliCat DART. Just what is the FroliCat DART all about? Well, for starters, this device delivers 360° rotation that will project laser patterns on the floor, letting your feline friend chase after it (or at least, attempt to). It will feature variable speed and timer settings, letting you go to work with peace of mind knowing that kitty won’t be bored as all get out that day with the FroliCat DART as its companion. Posted: 19 Nov 2010 12:14 PM PST Going against the grain often takes time, energy and effort. Unfortunately, sometimes doing so for the sake of being different isn’t really that wise – after all, why fix it if it ain’t broke? Well, the answer(s) to this question might just surprise you, but we’ll leave the philosophical thinking to the comments section while we help you see the whole point of the Chickenborg Egg Cuber. As we know, most eggs come in an overall oval shape, and if you decide to have hard boiled eggs, peeling open the shell would reveal a similar shape underneath. With the Chickenborg Egg Cuber, as its name suggests, you are able to make breakfast time slightly more different (and perhaps even fun for your kids), as your eggs will come in a cube shape. One of the advantages of this shape is, it won’t be able to roll off plates or trays so easily even when tilted at a sharp angle. This acrylic Chickenborg Egg Cuber will retail for $5.99 and would make for an interesting addition to any kitchen this Christmas. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. SteelSeries MMO Keyset enhances Shift keyboard Posted: 19 Nov 2010 12:05 PM PST
Basically, the whole idea of the MMO Keyset is to offer gamers a superior and more cost-effective keyboard option, after all, that is a whole lot more affordable compared to purchasing an MMO-only keyboard. Come on now, many of you might be thinking of doing just that especially with the upcoming Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft. With this new MMO Keyset, it shows how the SteelSeries Shift Keyboard can offer gamers an entirely new set-up, specific to the type of game they're currently playing. After all, each SteelSeries Shift Keyset is identified and will be fully compatible with the Shift's base via the SteelSeries ID2C, a unique, programmed chip that is found on the backside of each keyset which will be powered by SteelSeries Engine Software. This software delivers easy, intuitive drag-and-drop macro management and recording capabilities for all keys. Imagine toggling between three layers of F keys including two emote layers, letting you churn out two dozen of the most common pre-programmed MMO emotes. Not only that, on the right side of the Keyset, players are able to shift between three layers of A keys, which have been preconfigured for custom mappings. Imagine taking full advantage of the voice key for instant push-to-talk capability – awesome! Compatible with all current MMO titles, the MMO Keyset is fully customizable, letting you record a sequence of actions with delays followed by mapping that sequence to any key. All keys can be further remapped in 3 layers, letting you perform a variety of actions on a single key. Since anti-ghosting capability comes with the Shift, you can have up to 7 simultaneous keystrokes. Expect to pick up the SteelSeries Shift MMO Keyset for $24.99 – just make sure you have the SteelSeries Shift keyboard first! Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. For those who are familiar with the POV.HD in its previous iteration, you would have probably noticed that the newer model will follow pretty closely the award-winning form-factor of its predecessor, albeit with all-new internal components and functionality. The POV.HD will sport new in-field flexibility capabilities and is capable of recording up to 5 hours of crisp HD video. With its exceptionally small and robust nature of the POV.HD camera head, you virtually have limitless options when it comes to capturing creative and beautiful video angles. As for functionality, you can expect the new POV.HD to feature a list that could be said is a result of listening to user feedback. The recording unit itself features a 2-inch LCD display that lets you view footage in the field, edit video and make exposure control adjustments. This simple set of controls enables you to easily "tag" the best footage in the field, making final editing a snap whenever you are back in the studio. The recorder itself is powered by Texas Instruments' new Da Vinci DM368 Video Processor, where it supports a real-time video pipeline which enhances image quality and produces crystal clear 1080p H.264 video. Comprising of a 2-oz wearable camera head that captures 142 degree FOV, at 1080p 30fps, it is interesting to note that this is the widest point-of-view camera angle available on the market at the moment – at least, of course, until another successor comes out, we presume. The perfect, ah let's face it, the ONLY way, I know of to send important declarations, salutations or tributes into space is with this kit. The message is then forwarded to a space broadcast center in North America where it is translated into a format suitable for transmission and sent to space using a laser telescope. It is possible that your message will be detectable for over 1,000 years, maybe even forever. So why wait? Declare your love, advertise your earth-bound business, memorialize a departed friend or maybe there's something you wanted to say to the little green guys? Now is your chance. Intergalactic war? Get off the couch and declare it. A message of peace that could save the world from imminent destruction? Get off Facebook and be our hero. Just don't tell these suckers where I live. Spy Gear Security Scanner for those babies that want to grow up and be TSA employees Posted: 18 Nov 2010 11:00 PM PST Spy Gear has put out a lot of interesting toys for aspiring Spy Kids for a long time. One of their most recent additions is the Security Scanner, which is essentially one of those metal detecting wands that a security guard might use put in a toy form. Oddly enough, it actually works. I found that there was this dial for “sensitivity”. If it was turned up all the way, it would go off all the time. If it was turned midway and pressed up against the pocket, it detected any metal with a beep and a green light. Apparently, kids are supposed to use this to Scan every agent from head to toe. After all, you never know who is hiding metal objects. Man, this is real Patriot stuff being peddled here. I’m not saying that this toy is encouraging propaganda, as it is probably necessary to have security wands like those used by the TSA. As you see in the title, this toy could be made for those aspiring TSA employees. The TSA could use a few good men (and women) after all of these stories of unnecessary pat-downs. You should be able to get it at the Spy Gear website for about $24.95. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. Tokyo man builds a home in a space designed for parking Posted: 18 Nov 2010 10:29 PM PST Some of you might remember when we reported on the Hong Kong man that built a Domestic Transformer that could turn a 344-foot space into a 24-room house. This man, Fuyuhito Moriya, has applied principles of some space-saving technology to his small house in Tokyo. This is a 30 square meter plot of land that was originally designed to be a parking space, but is now a three story house for two. As you might have guessed, things are pretty crammed with appliances under counters and many other compact enhancements designed to decrease space as much as possible. It reminds me of Bruce Willis’ apartment in The Fifth Element. Since he was unable to expand horizontally, there was nowhere to go but up. He designed a special circular stairwell based on a triangle and not a circle, which allowed for a tighter diameter. In order to increase the feeling of space, the architect installed big windows to let in more light, so it wouldn’t feel like living in a tuna can. The overall cost for this parking lot home was about $500,000. Considering the price of property in the big city, not to mention overcrowding, this could be the way of the future, a very cramped future. Go ahead and click on my Source link if you would like to see a CNN video where a reporter visits this tiny house. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist.
