Hands on with the Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming Headset

I had a friend of mine try out Psyko Audio’s gaming PC Headset at CES last January. He told me they were “the best headphones that he had ever seen”.

You can imagine what kind of a set-up that is for a review. Either I am going to be really disappointed, or I’m going to agree with him. One thing I can say is that I am not disappointed.

The Pskyo 5.1 isn’t designed to be headphones, but a headset system for gaming. The system creates 3D sound like a room system, with 5 speakers in the bridge plus a sub-woofer positioned at each ear. It is created so that a gamer can hear exactly where a sound is coming from. By the way, just because they aren’t designed to be regular audio headphones doesn’t mean they can’t be used as them, and they work rather well in that capacity.

The Psyko Audio also has an extremely unique aesthetic quality. The ears are made of transparent plastic, and are easily adjustable. There is also a terrific removable microphone.

The Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming headset requires hooking up the earphones to an amp that you plug into the wall. The amp has an adjustable volume and bass. It requires some set-up for 5.1 surround sound.

You should be able to purchase the Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming Headset at the Psyko Audio site for a price of $299.99. That may sound pretty expensive, but this is probably going to be the last pair of headphones that you will need to buy for a long time. If you have a gamer on your Christmas list, and you can spare the cash, then this is your gift for that person.

Eco-city is solar-powered, holds one hundred thousand

Lately, I have been covering a lot of hands-on reviews of real products before the holidays, and it has been a while since I have covered a cool concept design that I probably will never see in my lifetime.

Then again, this domed city is called Eco-city 2020, and I’m not certain that is a realistic deadline for this project. That would give them only a decade to complete it.

The plan is to build this city around the Mir diamond mine, which I’m told is the second largest excavated hole in the planet. It is 1,700 feet deep, and it is a quarter mile wide on the top. Apparently, the air flowing into the hole is so strong, it can suck helicopters in.

The dome on top is equipped with solar cells so power can be generated throughout the city. You will notice the vertical farms and forests, which I would assume provides a healthy atmosphere for this place. The main floor would hold the parks and recreation areas, and the residential section are around the walls. It is estimated that 100,000 people can live in this Eco-city.

Not bad for a city of the future. I wonder if there is a way to make this so the Eco-city would be our habitation-of-choice on another world? It certainly would be a better shelter than the Vivos Underground Shelter Network.

Yoomi Duo Board Game relies on iPad to get going

Hmmm, the iPad seems to have taken on yet another role – that of a game board. Now that is certainly interesting, as the Yoomi Duo Board Game from Toys “R” Us will rely on the iPad (it doesn’t matter whether you have the Wi-Fi only model or the one with 3G connectivity) as a game board. The Yoomi comes with an accessory which is attached to the iPad’s dock port, partly resting on the screen, and it will take the real deal to figure out how this magical combination works to provide hours of fun and activity within your family. Not only that, since the iPad is extremely portable, it is also travel friendly and can be used to alleviate boredom, coming in handy especially when waiting in transit for flights. It is currently going for $39.99 on the Toys “R” Us website if you’re interested.

For those of us living in the northern hemisphere, we are pretty sure that you have already stocked up on your winter supplies to make sure you remain nice and warm throughout the upcoming frigid, freezing months. Square – Don’t be surprised when your babysitter asks for your credit card

I am absolutely blown away by the things that are available these days. Sometimes, I am intrigued by the technology, but at the same time, frightened by the implications. Are we really destined to become a cashless society?

A new company, called Square is turning the credit card processing industry on its ear with an application available at the iTunes store. Available for the iPad, the iPhone and iPod Touch, Square enables you to take credit card payments for, well, just about anything.

Once you register for the free Square app they will send you a card reader that plugs into your mobile device and then, let the swiping begin. With no contracts or monthly fees. Receipts are sent electronically and you can track your sales all in one place. Transaction fees are settled nightly, instead of monthly and it’s available for use by anyone that would like to be able to take credit cards, not just businesses.

Now I cant help but ponder how this nifty little program is going to be used, and I'm not certain it's all going to be good, but the one thing I am sure of is that my next garage sale is going to be a whole lot different than it was before.

Anyone want to buy a couch?

My last car had a satellite radio in it. I loved how many different stations I had to choose from, and I must say, I got addicted to certain ones, and when it was time to trade her in, I was awfully sad to see her go. Not because of the car, I was going to miss the radio.
