Recently I wrote up a Philips Kettle that promised to save energy and give you a hot cup of water fast. However, I have to say after looking over the Breville Hot Cup, I like it a whole lot better. Granted my reasons may seem a little silly, but I imagine it’ll appeal to a great deal of others. This device boils just as fast, saving you energy, but you don’t have to refill the water quite so often.

With this you just fill up the tank and then set the size of the cup you’d like to fill. It’s all pretty basic as far as the usage goes. Thankfully, despite the simple usage it has a smart design that’ll help you save on your energy bill. You can purchase it for £59.99 or about $90 through Nigel’s Eco Store.

Chalkboard Watch filled with math

Instead of hiding your nerdy love for math, show it off on your wrist for all the world to see. This watch makes math look exactly like it always should. White chalky scratches on a green chalkboard. It can remind you of the good old days of sitting in the classroom with that classic chalk smell always lingering in the air.

The rest of the watch looks pretty normal, just your classic black band. The hands of the watch itself are pretty normal too, although they do mimic pieces of chalk just a little bit. These watches were created as a limited edition series designed by Rolf Sachs. Unfortunately that was a long while ago and it’s not obvious on the site if they even still create these watches.

Truncheon Task Light

This Truncheon Task Light puts truncheons to a whole new use. It’s also finding itself with a far less violent use. Normally when the lamp is within its stand it just looks like your usual lamp, but once popped out of the stand it reveals what it was modeled after. That also means that should you want to hold the light closer to something you’re reading, it’s easy to do just that.

The lamp gives you a whole lot of customization. You can get maple with a bronze base, maple with a hydrocal base and finally walnut with a bronze base. They use energy saving LED bulbs inside of it. The harsh LED lights are warmed a bit by the wood encasing. These are actually for sale, but you’ll have to contact the designer to find out the price of it.

Automatic Pill Grinder could help the older folks out

Some of us absolutely hate swallowing pills, simply because our gag reflex will kick into action whether we like it or not. This would mean grinding down the pill into powder, and that itself is a skill as you might just lose the potency of the pill when it powder form simply because you lack the skill of retaining most of the powder once you’re done with a mortar and pestle. Enter the Automatic Pill Grinder which is capable of grinding down the hardest of pills automatically into a fine powder, letting you combine it with food or drink for easier consumption. Capable of crushing a couple of pills simultaneously with its grinder, all powder will be deposited into a collection tray. Water Wars is like paintball, but with water

I’ve never played paintball before, but I am told that those little balls can bruise the next day. What if there was a way to make certain that your opponent was hit, and not use painful (not to mention stain-full) paintballs?

This is the basic concept behind Water Wars. It involves the aqua warring factions to wear these special vests that use hydrochromatic inks. So if you are shooting your opponent, the colored spot will prove that yes, he or she has been hit. Not only that, it turns red, so it looks just like blood!

I have to admit that this idea does seem pretty sound, but I think that the vest looks a little heavy. After all, most people have water-fights on hot days, and this vest feels like it would add a layer of unneeded insulation. And you thought Laser Tag armor was heavy on you!

Also, if the target turns red from the opponents water, then I suppose the player’s water from his or her own gun could have the same effect. In other words, some guy who just filled up his water gun with some H2O should be careful not to wipe the excess moisture on his chest. The mistaken hits could lead to a lot of players crying: “No fair, I got you!”

I don’t have a price or availability date, but Water Wars is one toy that you would want to get to the stores before summer is over.

Halo Bicycle Lock can send you a message

Just when I thought I was finished with biking gadgets for the day with the Bendable Bike, along comes the Halo Bicycle Lock.

The Halo has nothing to do with the popular video game series of the same name, but probably derives its name from the perfect circle that it creates when the two halves are put together.

The Halo Bicycle lock can also do something that I might be willing to describe with the word “angelic”. You see, it comes equipped with an Eye-Fi card so it will send out an alert if it is tampered with. This gives bikers a new set of security as they will receive a text or phone call on their mobile if some thief is trying to make off with their favorite set of two-wheels.

Say, wouldn’t you have to have Wi-Fi access in order for the Halo Bicycle lock to work? Yes, my Source was quick to point this out too. However, this device is merely a concept for now. In the future, it isn’t too hard to believe that the entire globe will have access to Wi-Fi. Of course, that future is probably distant, and I’m not certain if the Wi-Fi would be free, either.

Bendable Bike locks itself around poles

“Oh my gosh, what happened to your bike? It’s wrapped around a pole! How did you even do that?”

“Actually, it is my new bike lock. It is designed to wrap around the pole.”

Seriously, I have seen bikes that were hit by cars that sort of look like the invention of Mr. Kevin Scott. Scott has figured out a way to make the frame bars of an ordinary bicycle super flexible, so they have the ability to bend around a pole. I suppose you would have to be a biker to appreciate something like this, because it would make it nice to use one of those horseshoe-shaped locks to lock the two back wheels in place.

My Source is concerned with the idea of messing with the frame bars, and I can understand why. It would appear that the lever locks and unlocks them into place, but you don’t want to be the poor guy who is riding down the street and accidentally hit it. Then you might end up looking as if you crashing into a lamppost.

This is still just a concept from the inventor now, and if it is going to be the new standard for bicycles, then bikeracks as we know them are going to have to change.

Sony releases smallest 3D cameras in the world

Sony has further expanded its family of Cyber-shot digital still cameras with two more models, namely the DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5, making them the smallest 3D cameras in the world being full well capable of capturing 3D images with a single lens system using nothing but a sweeping motion. This means making your own 3D panorama shots are easier than ever before, where it is all made possible thanks to a high-speed burst of frames which is then stitched together using innovative processing techniques, resulting in an automatically created detail-packed 3D panorama. Of course, you can always choose to enjoy these images in mere 2D, or in stunning 3D as long as you own a compatible 3D television. This would mean a larger initial outlay since you will also require 3D-compatible HDMI cables and 3D glasses, where all of these are sold separately.

Both the DSC-TX9 that comes with a 3.5″ 921k resolution LCD touchscreen display and the DSC-WX5 that sports a 2.8″ LCD display lets you view images in a whole new way. With Sweep Multi Angle, you are able to view images moving in simulated 3D right on the cameras’ LCD display simply by tilting the camera back and forth. This new shooting feature will then capture 15 images at different angles, compiling them into a single photo to create a 3D-like effect on the display. Pretty neat – who would have thought that technology would have advanced at such a pace that off of these are now possible.

Not only that, the 12.2-megapixel TX9 and WX5 models will also come with new features such as Background Defocus that will simulate depth of field control and Superior Auto mode, offering low image-noise levels which were previously only available from DSLR cameras. You can also record your favorite memories down in full HD video thanks to the AVCHD format which is normally used in Sony’s high-definition Handycam camcorders. Other features include Optical SteadyShot image stabilization to help overcome camera shake, and the ability to choose between the Memory Stick PRO Duo and class 4 and above SD/SDHC memory card formats offer unprecedented flexibility. The TX9 will retail for $400, while the T99 and WX5 are going for $250 and $300, respectively.

Callpod Onyx and Vetro Bluetooth headsets have superb range

After all, they can be used with other Vetro, Onyx or Dragon V2 headsets for two-way or push to talk communication, as long as you remain within a reasonable connection distance. Of course, one might argue that using the built-in PABX system is good enough, but what about those moments when you’re not sure where your colleague is, and you call his or her cellphone? Taking around 3 hours for a full charge, you get up to 5 hours talk time and over 120 hours on standby with either headset. Squirt Battle Flotilla

If only the Turks and Israelis were this buddy-like when approaching the latter’s shores, with the Squirt Battle Flotilla floating across peacefully to deliver some laughs instead of getting boarded and assaulted. We don’t mean to demean the deceased, but the world could do with a whole lot more love and peace, don’t you think so? This floating battle system will see a couple of kids in mobile squirt vessels to go up against another two children who are required to defend a stationary squirt platform. Since these are inflatable vessels, you might want to purchase an air pump instead of relying on lung power alone which will probably have you end up at the hospital instead from a collapsed lung. Each of these will come with two built-in squirt jets, and are powered by the same principle employed in spray bottles so you won’t have to worry about battery issues. Gameboy iPhone 4 case

What you see here is a definite labor of love. This enterprising person decided that the iPhone 4, being all modern could very well be married to something retro, to the tune of the ancient Nintendo Gameboy. Touted to be the Original Gameboy iPhone 4 case, it might very well be the first of its kind in the world. The actual Gameboy was cut open at the top so that enough space could be created to squeeze in the spanking new iPhone 4, although we do hope that the cut sides have been filed properly so that your precious Apple smartphone won’t be scratched all too easily. Since the Gameboy’s display is much smaller than the iPhone 4’s, you can only see the time through the case, hence limiting the use of the iPhone 4 by some. Of course, getting the phone out of the case is a little bit more tricky. It is a nice touch to see the battery compartment being used to store a pair of headphones if you know how to roll up the wires correctly.
