Posted: 16 Feb 2010 05:39 PM PST

Men seem to be losing their masculinity for many reasons, and more husbands are now hen-pecked than ever before. Could this have something to do with the lack of more macho toys for boys? If you want little Johnny to grow up being testosterone filled, then the Sharpshooter remote controlled helicopter might be just the thing. This missile-firing toy comes with a dozen missiles for you to wreck havoc on enemy lines, and you can always practice your firing skills with 6 targets bundled in the package. Each $19.95 purchase comes with a rapid charging controller so that you can always dive back into the action soonest possible.

Addictaball offers new puzzle for brainacs

Posted: 16 Feb 2010 05:33 PM PST

Folks who love nothing better than a good puzzle to wind down after a hard day’s work will find the Addictaball to be a decent alternative, as it comes in a small and large version to cater to different needs (at different prices, of course). This handheld game is not battery powered (now that’s a change!), which means you won’t get any fancy sound effects or flashing lights to go along with it. Despite the lack of all that pizzazz, it is still able to keep your gray matter more than happy. The concept of Addictaball involves twisting, turning and tilting this transparent orb in various directions so that you can guide a small metal ball through the 3D maze of platforms, holes and spirals which are suspended within. Guess anyone with shaky hands might want to give this a miss! Firebox is carry both the small and large versions for £6.99 and £11.99, respectively.

Runcom & IXI has brand new WiMAX GSM handset

Posted: 16 Feb 2010 05:26 PM PST

Is WiMAX the future? Many people think so, and both Runcom as well as IXI have joined hands together in a partnership to come up with a brand new WiMAX-enabled GSM cellphone which ought to keep you hankering after it. The result of both companies’ collaboration was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, touting it to be its first Dual Mode Low Cost (ULC) GSM- WiMAX handset. Within the handset, one will find Runcom’s leading OFDMA technology that was specially developed for WiMAX and LTE (Long Term Evolution) connectivity support. Both GSM and WiMAX chipsets have been integrated, making it full well capable of handling voice calls, VoIP calls and high speed data connection up to 10Mbps on 2.3GHz or 2.5GHz WiMAX spectrum. The folks at the WiMAX Forum claim that WiMAX coverage is able to target up to 100 million users by this year, and Runcom and IXI are well positioned to supply all the necessary demand for dual mode handsets.

According to Yair Shapira, CTO of IXI Mobile Inc., “This represents a significant milestone for IXI Mobile. Having the ability to offer GSM-WiMAX handsets at competitive price points puts IXI Mobile in a substantial growing path. The demand for this kind of wireless handset will be massive. IXI and Runcom expect orders for delivery starting Q2/2010.”

Dr. Zion Hadad, CEO and Chairman of Runcom added, “We believe that this handset, which was developed by IXI in record time, will be a massive addition to the Runcom End-to-End Network offering to operators worldwide. This product represents the future of Mobile WiMAX.”

Both companies’ product pages have yet to be updated with this WiMAX GSM handset as we’re also extremely interested to know what kind of specifications it carries, but from the image that you see, there is no front-facing camera which probably means there won’t be any video calls being made with this. It also remains unknown whether the round button in the center is an optical touchpad or an actual trackball, but at least the keyboard looks pretty pleasant to type on, just like products from Palm.

If you are tired of enjoying only your New Year, now you can celebrate the Chinese New Year as well.  Plus you can do it in a truly geeky fashion.  Just pick yourself up this fancy USB drive that was created in honor of the Chinese New Year.  As it happens this year is the year of the tiger.  Which means the tiger stripes are representative of that.

If you’re not all that into the whole Chinese New year,  you might just like the cool tiger stripes.  This Kingston drive will hold a decent amount of your storage, since it has 8GB built into it.  The Kingston drive is part of their Data Traveler line.  Right now it doesn’t look like this is being sold a whole lot outside of China.  It’s possible that it might make it to other areas of the world though.

Posted: 16 Feb 2010 03:28 PM PST

Flying the Millennium Falcon is a childhood dream for many.  All different generations have become serious fans of the famous ship.  Well now you can fly your very own, sure it won’t be making it into space anytime soon, but you can fly one.  You’ll just have to stay on the ground and watch it float through the air.  It’s pretty close to the next best thing.

This flying machine is intended to be used indoors and measures 11 inches long by 8 inches wide.  You can take this detailed flying machine for a spin through your living room and control it through the charging controller.  Through that controller and vehicle battery you can fly for up to five minutes at a time.  It probably won’t be the fastest flying machine out there, but it’ll at least get you a little entertainment.  It’ll become available this fall and at that point will cost $49.99.
