Sega Zone video game system coming this summer

Posted: 02 Feb 2010 03:18 PM PST

new-sega-console-hitting-summer-0Well, when I heard that Sega was putting out a new video game console, I had to double check to see what decade I was in.

I’m not certain why that Dreamcast never took off, and why I see Sonic the Hedgehog playing tennis with Mario on the Nintendo. I mean, if Nintendo knew what was going to happen in the early nineties, then they never would have worried about them as competition.

Apparently, this Sega Zone is actually some sort of Wii emulator that allows the players to do classic video games like Golden Axe, Sonic and Knuckles, Ecco the Dolphin, and 30 other games.

The Sega Zone doesn’t come with the classic Genesis controllers with the A, B, and C keys, but two motion controllers. These motion controllers are good for 16 out of the 30 included classic Sega games.

The company plans to put even more classic Sega games in the future. As I mentioned before, this will be available this summer, and the price will be around £50.

Of course, I have heard that there is already some sort of emulator for the iPhone that will allow a user to play old Sega games like Sonic the Hedgehog. It is called the Ultimate Genesis Collection for the iPhone. This emulator is free, but the games are $3 each. Make your own decision on what is the best value for you.

Imogen Heap’s Twitter dress at the Grammys

Posted: 02 Feb 2010 02:55 PM PST

Imogen-Heap_679677aThe Grammys were one gadget-filled event. When Stephen Colbert gave the award for Song of the Year, he read the nominees off of his iPad. As if we didn’t see enough of that Apple iPad last week.

What really made a techno-splash on the red carpet was UK singer Imogen Heap. Her gown was not designed by a huge and expensive fashion designer, but she claimed that this Twitter dress was her own creation.

Yes, this Twitter dress, or twitdress, is designed so she can keep up on her Twittering. You may think that her necklace looks more like a row of bullets strapped around her neck, but this keeps her updated on Twitter. Her purse is an iPhone or iPod Touch that allows her to see photos that people are sending her online.

Somehow, her dress had an internet connection, but I’m not certain I want to know where that is. As for the parasol, my source just says that it is a fashion accessory.

Considering that Imogen Heap’s fame has been the result of social media, I guess it is no wonder why she had this type of dress on.

I have to admit, I don’t really understand how fashion designers think. I will have to say that Imogen’s Heap’s outfit is “ugly”, but I can’t deny that it is practical.

Parasia Admetior Solar Window Thermometer

Sunartis-Solar-Window-Thermometer

I swear I’ve been on the thermometer patrol.  I’ve been casually searching for one for a while now, but just haven’t found that one that pulls me in.  My needs are basic, covering the usual basics like affordability and a battery-free design.  Well this one does just that, it’s not like the big weather stations that can predict the weather all day long.  It just keeps you posted on the current state of events and the lows and highs.  It does all of that without needing you to switch out the batteries.

It’s completely solar powered and just suctions to your window.  It could be used on any glass surface, but that would make things complicated if it weren’t a window.  The suction cups are set up to stick on the outside, then while you’re warm indoors you can check the outside temperature.  You can also see what the low was for the night before.  It’s also thankfully pretty affordable.  You can purchase one for $25.10 through Amazon.

Mu Space concept music player turns into a pillow

Posted: 02 Feb 2010 02:28 PM PST

500x_mu_space7You’ve heard of Mu Space, right? It’s that social networking site that no one wants to visit anymore because they went straight to Facebook after they graduated high school.

I’m kidding, of course. According to my source, the Mu Space is a music player that transforms into a bed, but it really transforms into a pillow if you see it open. I’ve included an additional pic after the jump so you can see exactly how the user is supposed to use it.

As you can see, it resembles a bowling ball holder without the zipper when shut, but looks like a very flat and comfortable helmet/pillow when open. From there, the user just chills out with their tunes playing at their ears.

Right now, the Mu Space is merely a concept, so I don’t know how exactly the music gets downloaded onto the helmet, as I do not see any USB ports, mini-USB or otherwise.

I like the idea of comfortably listening to tunes without headphones, but I honestly can’t say that I have an occasion for this. After all, would you feel comfortable lying down in a coffee house or on a city street while you listen to your music in this fashion? Chances are, someone would probably come up to you and say that you are loitering.

Too Late USB Memory keeps you on time

It used to be that I didn’t see much point in carrying around a device that keeps track of the time since most people keep their cellphones on hand.  However, there are times that it looks bad to be glancing at your phone.  If you run into those situations often, but don’t actually want to wear a watch, this could be a happy medium between the two.  This keychain could easily be concealed in your pocket and you can keep track of the time as well as all of your important documents.

The Too Late USB drive comes in a total of ten different colors.  It’ll hold 4GB of your data, which isn’t too bad.  Then it has the keyring that’ll allow for you to keep it attached to your keys if that makes things easier.  It also has a small LCD screen that you can read the time on.  The drive is impact resistant, which is good news for those of you that tend to drop your keys on a regular basis.  Right now it’s a little difficult to find the pricing information on this USB drive, but you could always contact the retailer to find out more.

The Locked On Proximity Sensing Shirt

Posted: 02 Feb 2010 12:12 PM PST

locked_shirt

A while back ago there were the incredibly sappy shirts that featured your life dropping in the form of little hearts as your loved one was further and further away.  Well now there’s a different version of the shirt that doesn’t feature bright red hearts but has the same idea.  The closer you are to your other half the more the shirt lights up to show that they’re near.  It’s a disgustingly loving way of keeping track of them at all times.

You can purchase a guy/girl set or even mix things up and buy guy/guy as well as girl/girl.  You get to choose upon check out so you don’t actually have to stick with the basic guy/girl set.  As soon as you get within a few meters of the other half of the set it’ll start to glow.  These are 100% cotton and need three AAA batteries to function.  For one of these it’ll cost you $19.99, so just double that if you want to buy a pair.

DIY Wi-Fi Detecting Bumper Sticker

Posted: 01 Feb 2010 03:58 PM PST

wifi-bumper-sticker-detects-WiFi-450x337

You probably remember the Wi-Fi detecting t-shirt that allows for you to light up every single time the shirt detects a signal.  Well now someone has taken that same shirt and found a way to turn it into a bumper sticker.  That way you have all of those wi-fi detecting abilities while you’re on the road.  Of course it’ll require you to do a little work all on your own, but then your car will be branded with the area’s Wi-Fi capabilities.

Just go to the Instructables page and they lay everything out for you.  Including giving you a link for the cheapest place to buy the shirt.  In addition to the shirt you’ll need some double stick tape, a 12v to 5v USB car adapter and some industrial double stick foam tape.  Then just follow through on the steps that they have listed.  After you’ve finished with the project all you have left is to decide whether to face it towards the inside for your own viewing pleasure.  That or you could show it off out the back of the window for the rest of the world to see.
