G-Form Extreme Portfolio for iPad

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 09:59 AM PDT

Got iPad/iPad 2? It goes without saying that one of the first few accessories that you purchase for your spanking new Apple tablet would not be Swarovski crystals which you can paste onto the iPad’s back, but rather, a protective case which you can opt to bling up at your own leisure later on. The G-Form Extreme Portfolio for the iPad as well as its successor might just be the thing for you then if decent protection is what you’re looking for.

After all, no one loves dropping their iPad or other mobile device for that matter, and as I always say, the first drop is the most painful. Incorporating G-Form’s remarkable RPT (Reactive Protection Technology), the Extreme Portfolion was specially designed and manufactured Stateside, where it is not only lightweight so that you won’t tire out too fast holding the iPad in your hands, but is also water-resistant to a certain extent.

The flexible RPT technology is capable of accommodating a bunch of tablet sizes, and apart from the iPad and its successor, other tablet rivals can also fit in nicely. The case has been reinforced with polycarbonate and RPT corners which deliver front and corner protection for the tablet whenever it is in use. An adjustable easel stand, an inside pocket for documents and a reversible zipper will make it a snap to turn the case itself into a protective tablet format in a jiffy.

Just how tough is RPT? Well, it is said to absorb more than 90% of the energy of an impact, stiffening up instantly like armor so that your precious tablet won’t be hurt more than it should. All pre-orders will of the Extreme Portfolio for iPad will ship this coming August 11th, and you can only place a maximum of 2 pre-orders per customer.

Guess G-Form is expecting some really huge order quantities with that limitation, no?

Razer Mouse Bungee updated and is back in action

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 09:45 AM PDT

Back in the days when computer mice had trackballs, getting the right kind of mouse pad is very important – after all, that alongside Teflon feet help your mouse glide over effortlessly, so that you will be able to have precise aim at your target, fragging them to kingdom come with the rocket launcher or railgun. Fast forward to today and you have optical mice being the norm, and while laser tracking works well on most surfaces, hardcore gamers would still prefer the comfort of a dedicated mouse pad to get the job done.

Razer, being an old hand when it comes to gaming peripherals, has just announced that they have updated the Razer Mouse Bungee – where the device will boast of a stable, taut arm, helping thread your mouse cord through it so that said cord will not experience any form of dragg against surfaces or end up being in a tangled mess. Not only that, with anti-slip feet as well as a weight installed in the Razer Mouse Bungee's base, it will remain immobile regardless of just how aggressive your swipes are.

In addition, Razer's updated sleek design and pitch black finish will surely make this a mean looking addition to your gaming arsenal. Gotta love the black finish, since that means it is harder to see whatever dirt that is accumulated on it over time. It will retail for $19.99 Stateside, although those of you living across the pond will end up with a raw deal of €19.99 – making it more expensive after conversion. That had always been the case with Razer’s products, so I guess it is something Europeans will have to live with.

You can place your pre-order for the updated Razer Mouse Bungee as it will start shipping from July 28th onwards – worldwide. Needless to say, there is one group of gamers who won’t need the Razer Mouse Bungee – those who use cordless mice to get the job done, of course.

Sprout Biodegradable Watch

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 09:30 AM PDT

Sorry to cover news about timepieces today, but I surely could not let the $34 Sprout Biodegradable Watch pass by on my watch! Why so, you ask? Well, if you are the type who has taken all the efforts to go green, why not do the same with a watch? Most of us would think that watches are made out mostly of metal and plastic, and the more expensive ones are meant to be passed on from one generation to another, so why bother getting something biodegradable?

Let’s face it – kids can’t appreciate a Rolex, and chances are they’ll thrash an expensive watch like that before they know just how valuable it is. The Sprout Biodegradable Watch plays a cool role here – it has an organic cotton band, is made out of biodegradable corn resin case, while a sustainable bamboo dial and mineral crystal lens makes sure the whole thing will return to dust eventually when you bury it after it gives up the ghost.

Mirror Universe LED Digital Watch

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 09:23 AM PDT

Most of us wear a watch for a two-fold reason – it not only helps you keep track of the current time, but it will also make you look a whole lot better by accessorizing with the rest of your outfit. Well, what happens when you get the Mirror Universe LED Digital Watch? The name itself is pretty self-explanatory – this mirrored face of a timepiece will hide the current time, while the chrome front adds a dash of class.

To know what time it is, just press the button and the watch will light up, coupled with a programmable short message that is displayed as well. There are 93 LEDs in total to help get the time (and message) across, where you can choose from 12 or 24 hour choices. A couple of CR2032 batteries are used, and you can tell when it is time to replace the batteries – whenever the lights get dim, of course!

The Mirror Universe LED Digital Watch will cost you $34.99 – pretty affordable for something so nifty and stylish!

Soulra Solar-powered Sound System for the iPhone/iPod, also in XL form!

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 08:30 AM PDT

We have reported on the Soulra from Eton Corp before, and I got a chance to try it out for myself over the weekend.

I decided to test it out on my iPhone with a dead battery. The moment the Soulra’s flip-out panel was in the sun, the iPhone began to charge. It took a lot more juice before I could get it playing stereo sound, but it did play, and it played it loud.

What you might not be able to see in this image is that the Soulra comes with a plastic cover to make certain the iDevice is safe. This is good for protecting against splashes, and it is IPX-4 Splash proof from all angles.

Of course, if the sun is not out, you can always plug in the AC cord. You had better believe that the remote control comes in handy too.

All in all, the Soulra is a good for a day at the beach with your iDevice. Hopefully, you can get a crowd to join in your party. You should be able to get the Soulra for about $150.00 on the Eton Corp site.

Also available is the soulra XL, which has a larger solar panel, more speakers, and a place to store the remote control. This model costs about $250.00 and is available here.

Phantom Keyless Home Entry

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 08:00 AM PDT

Considering that there is an App for just about everything now, I am not surprised that there is mobile software to replace one’s keys.

Phantom Smart Home’s new Keyless Home Entry system recently announced a new lock system that allows the user to unlock their door with a smartphone application. It uses Bluetooth technology, and users have to set up the lock to recognize their mobile phones before they leave.

In case of lost phone, it only takes a simple re-pair. That is, you will have to pair it again with your new phone. It is a hassle, but at least you won’t have to replace your locks. You can also use a regular key if you’re still into that old-school, non-digital thinking.

My Source says that this Application could come in handy in case you are in a situation where you are carrying two bags of groceries, but only if it can somehow “sense” the presence of your phone. Otherwise, you’d have to fish your phone from your pocket, unlock it, and start up the Application. That is just as inconvenient as keys.

However it works, it is available now for about $249.99. Yes, that is a little expensive, but consider it an investment in your future. After all, it would appear that the smartphone is going to replace many of the things in our wallets like credit cards and photos. Why not allow it to take the place of our keys as well?

gScreen SpaceBook dual-screen laptop

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 03:53 PM PDT

Just so you know that you are not dreaming, you are seeing a laptop with dual screens. I’m pretty certain that someone has probably invented this before, as who wouldn’t want a dual-screen laptop? After all, I usually have three windows going on my laptop at any given time.

The gScreen SpaceBook has two 17.3 inch screens. It also has a quad-core Intel Core i7-740M processor, 8GB of RAM, as well as a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M video card.

Does that sound good to you? It certainly does to me. Right now, I am in the process of learning how to create apps. I could sure use a dual-screen laptop for my work. Here is the downside: it weighs in at ten pounds.

Yeah, I’m not certain if I want to be lugging around something that heavy, and I wonder if most laptop bags can even handle that weight. Just so you know, the screens can fold up together and you could have a single-screen computer if you want.

The gScreen SpaceBook (not to be confused with Facebook) is available for pre-order for about $2,795. That is pretty expensive for a laptop, and it reminds me of the days when laptops used to be very heavy and cost quite a bit. Considering that those old-school laptops laid the foundation for the laptops that we have now, perhaps the SpaceBook will set a similar standard. Perhaps we are looking at a future where every laptop has two screens. I say, why not four?

Cyber Snipa Sonar Portable Mini Speaker

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 05:30 AM PDT

Looking for a spanking new portable speaker? Well, if you love taking the wireless route, you might want to check out the foxL v2 Bluetooth speaker that we looked at yesterday, but for those who want something which is a whole lot more affordable (the price will be discussed later on in the extended post), then you won’t go wrong with the Cyber Snipa Sonar Portable Mini Speaker.

As mom used to say – do not judge a book by its cover, and a No Fear T-shirt had this words emblazoned on it, “It is not the size of the dog in a fight that matters, but the size of the fight in the dog” – or something to that effect. Well, the same applies to this relatively tiny speaker, where it’s capability betrays its physical form factor.

Touted to be “shockingly powerful” where a portable speaker for mobile devices is concerned, Nathan Newman, Product Manager of Cyber Snipa has this to say about the Sonar Portable Mini Speaker, “We’re really proud of the speaker’s design, both in its looks and functionality. The Sonar Portable Mini Speaker is truly the premier speaker set for taking your mobile device experiences to the next level and simply blows away your standard speakers, whether you’re at home or lounging by the pool this summer.”

Relying on a patented vacuum bass system, the Sonar packs quite the punch and has a built-in rechargeable lithium battery that is said to last for a good 4 hours of non-stop audio playback before it requires another trip to the nearest power outlet. For those who want an even more tub-thumping experience, here is an idea – how about connecting multiple units in a daisy chain configuration?

And now, something which is close to everyone’s hearts – the price. After all, in the currently shaky economy worldwide, it makes sense if you want to obtain the best bang for your buck, and the Cyber Snipa Sonar Portable Mini Speaker can be yours for $29.95. Basically, it plays nice with just about any device as long as those support the 3.5mm audio jack.

Circulation Improving Leg Wraps

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 05:00 AM PDT

No, this device is not, I repeat, is not a shambo or a Subway wrap. Instead, it intends to bring relief to those who suffer from sore muscles as well as poor circulation in the lower part of your body. For instance, the Circulation Improving Leg Wraps are capable of inflating or deflating accordingly to help improve circulation, give those overworked, sore muscles a nice workout, while reducing the amount of swelling in your lower extremities.

Some might go as far as to say this is similar to hospital compression boots which stimulate circulation in sedentary patients. The leg wraps themselves will boast half a dozen airbags which wrap around the whole leg, inflating and deflating so that your blood vessels will get some assistance to expand and contract. The compression intervals will help stimulate circulation in the thighs, hamstrings, calves, and feet, which in turn facilitates blood flow back to the heart.

With a corded remote, you can opt from three levels of intensity and have the luxury of seven programs to choose from, where these will pinpoint different areas and at varying intervals. Bring some much needed relief home for $149.95, what say you?
