Hands on with the Dymo LabelManager PnP Posted: 18 Apr 2011 04:07 PM PDT I have reported on DYMO’s products before, and they are very good at putting out label makers like the 360D and the LabelManager 260P. The newest member of the DYMO team, the LabelManager PnP (Plug and Play), is not an independent label printing device but requires a computer for it. It is capable of printing labels that are 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch wide, provided it has the proper cartridge, the D1 label cassette. The best part about the LabelManager Pnp is how well it lives up to its Plug and Play feature. It really is incredibly easy to use, as you just plug it into the USB port. From there, my computer recognized the device immediately, and I didn’t have to download any CD-Rom software for it. From here, it is as simple as typing out a message and hitting the print button. The label was a little difficult to peel, but if that is the most difficult part of using this device, then I would say this is a hit. If you are into the whole label making thing, then you probably want to get yourself a LabelManager PnP. It is available in several stores and for about $57.89 on Amazon right now. The World’s Biggest Pac-Man is no lie Posted: 18 Apr 2011 03:27 PM PDT What you are seeing here is the World’s Biggest Pac-Man, and it is a web site where you can play Pac-Man, constantly. Granted, I am not certain why you would want to do this, as there are definitely more advanced online video games than those from the early eighties. However, if you want to go through thousands of mazes, and even create your own, you should definitely go to the World’s Biggest Pac-Man site. Yes, this is one of those times when there is truth in advertising, and the user can log in via Facebook or just play for fun. I tried it out, and didn’t log in, and it kept track of me when I came back, showing the Ghosts Eaten, Pac-Dots Eaten, Mazes Played, and Mazes Completed. If I had created any mazes, they would be there in my personal stats as well as the Global Stats. If there is one thing that I remember from my youth, it is Pac-Man. It prepared me for adulthood as I realized that life is a series of running through many mazes and always trying to acquire more. Occasionally, you get to eat the ghost and get some victory, but mostly life is a chase. Don’t think of me as a cynic, for Pac-man shows that life if fun even in the midst of the chase. Brazilian police can scan hundreds of faces per second with a pair of sunglasses Posted: 18 Apr 2011 02:47 PM PDT The 2014 World Cup is going to be in Brazil, and preparations are already underway. Security is going to be tight at this event, and I have heard that the police will have something to protect the innocent like Robocop. The plan is that the police will be wearing sunglasses with cameras that can scan 400 known criminals per second from up to 12 miles away (they are generally optimized for about 150 feet). The sunglasses are wirelessly connected to a database that can compare with the facial profiles of 13 million people, and can check for 46,000 points on the face for an exact match. Not only can it scan for criminals, but the sunglasses have a screen where an officer can get instructions as far as what to do next. Again, it works like Robocop, without a classified Directive 4. I have heard that Brazil is pretty advanced in many areas, and I wonder if we will see these high advanced scanner sunglasses when the World Cup happens in three years. I suppose that we will see, but in the meantime, can we arrange it so that these scanner sunglasses can be put on cops around the world? Better yet, find out a way if these scanners could be put on the eyes of private citizens. I wonder if this would increase the number of citizens arrests. Posted: 18 Apr 2011 07:58 AM PDT We’ve seen some pretty wacky gadgets in the past but this must be right up there with the craziest, vibrating sauna pants. The sauna pants are said to aid in the loss of excess water in the abdominal areas, or if having a hot sweaty crotch floats your boat these could be the pants for you. You can (actually) buy the sauna pants from Taylor Gifts or Amazon. We need to thank RGS and Unique Daily for sharing this crazy stuff with us.
